Réflexologie faciale
(or DIEN CHAN)
The Face: The Mirror of the Body
Contrary to popular belief, facial reflexology is not an ancient practice. Although it shares similarities with acupuncture, the massage method as practiced today is relatively recent and comes from Vietnam, where it is known as Dien Chan. Developed in the early 20th century, facial reflexology is a simplified method of facitherapy, combining massage, acupuncture, and reflexology.
How Does It Work?
Facial reflexology requires the use of specific tools:
★ Le tigeoki
★ Le ridoki
These instruments, although they may seem intimidating (who would want a sharp tool near their face?), are essential. The points worked on in facial reflexology are closely spaced, so these tools allow for greater precision. Additionally, the material of these tools plays an important role in stimulating the points.
During a preliminary appointment, the client explains their reasons for consultation. The practitioner asks questions to gather as much information as possible, which helps prepare a personalized session. They typically select about twenty points to work on, based on the conversation.
What Happens During a Session?
The session always begins with a relaxation massage using the hands, followed by the use of tools to make the client more receptive to stimulation. The practitioner then works on the selected points with the tigeoki, followed by using the ridoki to stimulate all the points on the face, awakening the body’s energy and promoting its circulation. The session concludes with the stimulation of specific points to tone and regenerate the client’s vital energy.

When to Use Facial Reflexology?
Facial reflexology is suitable for everyone. It has the advantage of easy access to the face, even in winter, and the practitioner’s tools can be replaced by everyday objects in case of emergency. This method is reassuring for some, as there is no need to undress, and the session lasts about 30 minutes.
It is particularly effective in a holistic approach to prevention and supporting the body’s functioning, as well as in various cases such as:
★ Mental or nervous fatigue
★ Pulmonary or bronchial issues (helps with quitting smoking)
★ Physical pain
★ Irregular or problematic menstrual cycles in women
Who Is Facial Reflexology For?
Facial reflexology is beneficial for everyone, regardless of age. For children and the elderly, session durations are adjusted.
However, it is important to communicate certain information during the first appointment:
★ If you are pregnant
★ If you have hypertension or hypotension (consult your doctor before making an appointment)
★ If you have hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism (consult your doctor before making an appointment)
What Reactions to Expect from Facial Reflexology?
Generally, the session provides a feeling of well-being and relaxation, which may last for a few hours or even days, depending on the condition of the person receiving the treatment. Some people may feel fatigued shortly after the session or, conversely, have difficulty sleeping the following night. All of this is normal, and it is important to discuss it with your practitioner, so they can adjust the next session based on your reactions and feelings.
